During a series of chats between shooting, Padalecki and Ackles talk about life on and off the Supernatural set.

Is it weird or kind cool watching yourself getting shot or stabbed on screen?
JARED: “It is, it is, but it’s almost like really cool to watch on screen and kind of really just exhausting to do in life. It’s like a sex scene or something. It’s like, 'Okay, well we can kind of see your breast so kind of lean to the right a little. Okay, yes, okay. Now your neck.' It’s just so calculated it’s almost like, 'Okay, well if you stab like this, then we're not going to see the light shining off the blade, so make sure you stab like that.' And you're like, 'Oh,' and you realize like man, it really takes a lot. It’s not just like, 'All right, go in and stab, and then go like wow!' So, you know, and the hand coming down and it has to look dead. 'Oh the hand flexed a little bit, we could tell you were, so like really keep the hand…' You don’t think about that. It’s a very painstaking process to kill somebody on screen. And especially for a horror series. Filming death takes a long time.”

How do you feel about it, Jensen?
JENSEN: “I agree. The best looking special effects that you see us doing probably took forever to get right. From the make-up, wardrobe, lighting, camera – everything has to be perfect and it has to run perfect all at the same time. Sometimes a demon has to throw you a certain way, so you have to rehearse that scene until the stunt coordinator feels you've got it right. And most of the time you don't. (laughs) So, it's a double-edged sword, the stunts can look really cool when they are done, but ten hours after you started them, I guarantee you are usually really sticky, sweaty and just want to deck the first demon we see.” (laughs)

Do you ever get hurt during the fight scenes or by being thrown around by a zombie or some other nasty creature?
JENSEN: “I usually do, but I never know about it until much later. When you are doing the scenes, your body is being pumped with all this adrenalin that you don't really feel anything that's going on with your body. I usually don't realize that I've gotten banged up until I'm taking a shower. That's when you notice the new bruises, cuts, bumps and scratches. They can get a little nasty, but I've never felt them when they happened. I'm just like standing in the shower thinking, 'Well, here's another nice bruise to add to my collection.' Now, of course, I usually feel it while I'm losing a limb. (laughs) It's a little tough to man-up when that happens.”

Jared, since you did the remake of Friday The 13th, and Jensen did the My Bloody Valentine redux while on separate Supernatural hiatuses, how do you feel about remakes in general? Are you okay with the idea artists tackling originals?
JARED: “I guess it’s my feeling about how songs are remade. Jeff Buckley’s ‘Hallelujah’ is a remake, and now that’s like the iconic version. The I Am Sam soundtrack, it’s a bunch of remade Beatles songs. I’m very into remakes. And I’m very into different artists' depiction of different stories, or ideas or songs, and putting their own spin. And as an actor, every movie I watch, I watch it going, how would I have done this, how would I have done that. I got the chance with Friday The 13th. But I think it would have been different for me if it was a line by line, shot by shot remake. I know there are plenty of remakes and sometimes there are people that think it’s the very first movie, but it’s actually a remake. And they go, ‘Oh, I didn’t realize that was a remake.’ They say Star Wars was a kind of strange remake of The Seven Samurai. But I support the idea of remakes, and I like seeing different artists' spin on different stories. Yeah, I’m a fan of remakes. Obviously, you’re going to have devout fans that will need to be respected, and will say stay true to the original. I think I can speak from Jensen when I say this, but But we're not in any way, shape, or form trying to degrade or insult, or replace the original. We were just retelling the story, we’re told the story and retelling it in a different way.”

Do you ever have any regrets about not going to college, Jensen?
JENSEN: “No, not at all. I know that this is going to sound a little strange, but I feel like I've been going through life college, if that makes sense. The things that I learned in life were really important to me, maybe more than some of the things I would have learned in a class. Don't get me wrong, I'm an avid learner. I read the dictionary and many of the books you have to read to graduate from college, because I wanted to feel like I'm learning some of the same things my friends were learning while they were in class. At the same time, I was trying to get a career going and my friends and I would all exchange stories about what we had learned that day. So, in a lot of ways, I feel like I learned what I would probably have in college.”

If I remember correctly, Jared, you did a scene in Supernatural or Friday The 13th where you tooled out onto the road on a motorcycle. Does that mean you're always riding motorcycles?
JARED: “I don’t actually. I actually, I mean I've been on dirt bikes, and I've ridden motorcycles every now and then like Vespers and stuff like that, but when I found out I was going to be riding in the movie, I stopped in Vancouver on the Supernatural set, and I called a stunt guy that's a buddy of mine. He has like four motorcycles. I was like, 'Hey man, like I'm riding a motorcycle in the movie, want to show me some stuff?' And so he literally brought a bike down to stage and like left it there for me. He was like, 'Listen, when you're not shooting just start it up, ride it around.' We’d get like an hour or two hours in between set ups or something and a few of the guys on set ride also, they kind of gave me advice. One of our camera guys, Jose, gave me a book on like advanced motorcycle techniques and stuff like that.”

Jensen, wasn't your dad an actor? Is that what made you decide you wanted to go into acting, too? JENSEN: “My dad was how I was exposed to acting. He even took me to his agency (in Texas) when I was still pretty young. But, when I think back about it, acting wasn’t something that I really felt a strong desire to do until I was probably in high school. In high school, I could take acting classes,do plays and talk about acting, and I thought, 'You know this is something I might like to do professionally."

What happened next? I mean, you're from Dallas, Texas and not much is going on, in terms of high-paying acting gigs in that part of the country.
JENSEN: “Luckily, this agent thought I could get a lot of work in Los Angeles, but I would have to move to LA. I thought, 'Why not? What have I got to lose?' So, I gave myself six months to get a job – an actual paying acting job that I could survive off of. I really didn't need that long, because in about a week's time, I had already gotten a job. So, I felt like I was meant to be an actor all the time. I just had to make the move.”

Jared, you've done several shows, but nothing as longterm as Supernatural. What do you think you've learned about yourself by doing this series?
JARED: “The thing I learned the most about myself? That I really like to sleep. (laughs) That's the first thing that comes to mind because that's what I'm most deprived of and I found myself — I remember I used to watch my father or something just like go to sleep watching television and I'm like ‘How can you sleep? It's not even dark in here.’ And I could go to sleep right now, here right. Like if you all just started making thunderstorm sounds or something. No. I mean that's sort of a cheesy answer. There's been a lot of self-discovery just both through playing the role and through sort of the nature of the show we shoot. Doing Supernatural, we're in another country (Canada) and living in a hotel. I'm sort of living life like Sam right now. I don't really know what's coming up in the next week or two and living in a place I'm unfamiliar with and away from my friends and family. And you learn a lot about yourself just because you don't have your normal vicees so readily available and you're working so hard. I've actually learned pleasantly that I'm capable of working a lot harder than I thought I was because we're working crazy hours and doing crazy, crazy things. So I found that I am up for it, so that's good.”

We got VERY lucky. I think we were the only table that got ten minutes with Jensen, which was twice as much as everyone else. What a huge treat for he’s the nicest guy to talk to not to mention just like his co-star he’s great on the eyes. He was the only person in the press room to almost make my heart stop with his big piece of news. Most details on that below. So here it is, the full transcript my roundtable interview with Jensen Ackles at Comic Con.

Oh yeah, MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!

(Jensen starts first, asking us a question) Have y'all been here for all five days? Are you burned out? You’re like “Oh my gosh, somebody end the misery. Well, we’re almost there. ” (We all nodded in enthusiastic agreement, although we were more than willing to let this gorgeous guy keep talking.)

Give us a tease…

Give us a tease (laughs). If I had a nickel… As you’ve probably heard since I’m now batting clean up, we’re getting back to bit of a season one formula in a sense that we’re putting reset on the whole show. I’m anticipating this season more than any other simply the fact that we set out to tell a five year story and we told it. So I’m like “Now what? Now what are we going to do?” Luckily we have very, very creative and intelligent people writing the show and I know they’ve got a lot of ideas up their sleeves so I’m kind of anticipating…I don’t know what to anticipate. I’m just excited about seeing what’s coming down the pipe. I’m watering at the mouth as everyone else is.

You’ve only had four episodes.

A:We’re shooting our third one right now.
What do you see (for the season)?
Well like I said we’re kind of getting back to the same formula as season one where it’s that monster of the week type of deal. There will be a mythology common denominator throughout the episodes like you saw in season one and two. What that is hasn’t been completely laid out yet, for me anyway. I’m sure they have some idea of what’s going to happen. Knowing what we know about the characters for the past five years and then having them put in positions where they are now…I’m mean Dean is a domesticated individual he’s got a normal job and a girl and basically a kid. Of course he still has a shotgun underneath his bed, still got the rock salt in his trunk and all that kind of stuff. He doesn’t drive the Impala anymore he drives a pickup truck. Not to say that the Impala’s gone because it’s under a tarp in the garage.
(Note, its right around this time I go into convulsions over this reveal. Jensen notices and is very amused. Once I notice he’s seeing my fan girl reaction – the only one at the table – I tell him, “That’s a tragedy!” He smiles more and replies, “I know, I know, it is!”)
It’s like he’s hung it up, he’s hung up his boots. But that only lasts for a very short while. Like anybody who has the kind of hunting in his blood he gets kind of drawn back. He’s like the mob, you’re never really out of it.

We heard about the brothers and the dynamic change.

There is. It’s a bit of a flip in motivation again like I said. Dean is domesticated now and he’s trying his best to lead a normal now. Sam is now back but is really on board with the whole hunting thing. Now it’s a job to him. It’s what he does, it’s his skill and he’s using it. He’s trying to leave Dean alone because he wants Dean to have a normal life. So there’s that kind of push and pull of he wants his brother to work with but he also wants his brother to live this normal life so it’s left him alone for the better part of a year, which is where we pick up the story in season six. And then the past catches up to Dean and Sam can’t stay away and he has to go get him and that’s where we kind of pick it up. It’s the struggle of Dean not wanting to get pulled back in but not really having a choice and then trying to figure out how he’s going to deal with the family because he knows that he can’t bring them into it. It’s kind of too late because he already has and now he’s got to distance himself from it, the one thing he didn’t want to do.

How’s he adjusting to the family life outside of his brother?

It’s cool. We just did this whole montage that we shot for episode one of Dean living this normal life. Going to bed next to a pretty girl, and going to barbeque with the neighbors, driving his truck to work, working on the construction site. It’s kind of cool because it’s completely out of what we’re normally seeing him do. It was kind of nice to play that different level of just being a normal guy. It’ll be interesting to see how he gets pulled back into it. Even though he doesn’t want to it’s kind of fun to have.

What was it like directing? How much fun was that?

It was a lot more work than just acting (laughs). In that I’ve been acting for thirteen years so I know how to do it. Directing I’ve never done it and I didn’t want to fail so I prepped like no tomorrow. I was pouring through scripts every night, I was doing shot lists and revising them constantly. I kind of always fell back on what Kim Manners told me about directing. He was, “It’s all about the homework. You do your homework, you show up, you’ll have fun. You don’t do your homework you’re going to show up and shoot yourself in the foot.” So I knew that if I fail, it’s not going to be because I didn’t do my homework. So I did. I did a ton of it. I showed up day one with eight days of shot lists. I don’t know how it turned out yet, we haven’t seen the cut. I know the crew respected it, they had confidence in me. For a first timer, I was glad to have those guys watching my back.

Would you do it again?

If you asked me the day after I finished I would have said not a chance in hell but now the dust is settled yeah, I would.
Dean and Castiel have a certain relationship. Will that play again next season?
I hope so. Misha hasn’t been in the first three episodes so we’re still waiting for Castiel to show back up. But he does in the, well it would be in the third episode (since episode 4 was shot first). I believe he’s back. I don’t know, I haven’t read anything as far as what the relationship’s going to be like. Now that he’s the head cheese in Heaven I’m not quite sure how that’s going to alter his character. That and now Dean’s different, I don’t know, I don’t have an answer for that. I’m interested to see myself.

Congratulations on your wedding.

Thank you.

Has that changed things much now that you’re both married men on the set?

Not really. It’s just like, official now. It’s good.

Total coincidence that you guys did it after the season five finale.

Yes, total coincidence.

Was it like someone stole the other’s thunder, so close to each other.
Yes and no. I would say that if we weren’t as good friends as we were it probably would have been like, “What are you doing?” But it was all done very innocently and honestly. I was happy for him, he was happy for me. We’ve been working together this long, no wonder. I think that we’re on the same cycles now.

What kind of creatures are going to be around for the first three episodes?

I know we’ve got a Djinn, which was in “What Is and What Should Never Be.” That was the end of season two. Kripke actually directed that one. We get a revisit from those characters. It’s kind of gone since the end of season five the world as far as the evil and the monsters and demons is in an upturn. There’s monsters that’s showing up that shouldn’t be in areas that we’re finding them, are acting out of character. There’s vampires that are walking around during the day. Everything’s turned upside down. For the first few episodes it’s going to be trying to make sense of what’s going on. But we’re going to get back to those old characters which will be nice because I like season one.

'Supernatural': Season 6 takes on 'pasty, waify' 'Twilight' and 'Vampire Diaries' vamps

"Supernatural" fans are buzzing about the series one-year time jump for Season 6. Zap2it caught up with new showrunner Sera Gamble at Comic-Con to get the scoop on what we can expect this year.

"Dean has been out of hunting for a year," she confirms. "He's been living with a woman, Lisa Braden, for a year, and her child, her twelve-year-old, so he's out of the life, thinking his brother's been dead for a year."

Of course, "Supernatural" wouldn't be much of a show if it were about domesticated Dean, so he'll get pulled back into hunting with Sam pretty quickly. What will they be hunting? Well... let's just say those boys from "The Vampire Diaries" better watch their backs.

"We have a meta episode that kind of explores vampires in the Zeitgeist right now," Gamble says. "There's never been a better time to be vampire because victims just fling themselves at you, because they're like 'Twilight' fans."

Anyone who's seen "Supernatural" knows that in Sam and Dean's world, you wouldn't want a vampire hanging out in your bedroom, watching you sleep. (We're looking at you, Edward Cullen and Damon Salvatore.)

"As you know vampires are very vicious and kind of ugly and brutal on our show," Gamble tells us. "So they're taking advantage of the fact that girls kind of want Edward Cullen or the brothers on 'The Vampire Diaries.'"

Star Jensen Ackles added during the panel discussion, "I'm looking forward to killing some vampires properly. Cut this pastey waify s*** out, and let's just kill some stuff."

Es hat sich eine Menge seit gestern getan.
Hier nur mal kurz die Änderungen die ich seit gestern vorgenommen habe.

Interview with Eric Kripke [SPOILER]

Supernatural boss on why he stepped down & whats coming up

A new Friday time slot isn’t the only major change facing Supernatural as it heads into its sixth season (beginning Sept. 24). Series creator Eric Kripke—whose five-season-long end-of-days-themed arc came to a close last May—is stepping down as day-to-day showrunner in favor of an advisory role. (Longtime EP Sera Gamble has been tapped to succeed him.) In the following Q&A, Kripke sets the record straight about the reason he relinquished his top-dog status, and previews the “undiscovered country” at the heart of the show’s top secret second act.

Why did you decide to step down as showrunner?
ERIC KRIPKE: We were reaching the end of this five-year story line [so] I thought the timing was right. I knew that we were closing this chapter and opening a new one. It felt like it was the right time to take a step back and focus on new projects, but still keep my grubby little mitts in the show. It was a lot about Sera and her enthusiasm and her ambition. I really think after five years of all of my crap, to have someone who has a fresh perspective and a fresh energy on these characters and this universe is healthy for the show. Supernatural has always been a show about reinvention. We try really hard not to do the same thing. I thought that Sera’s [increased] involvement really helped guarantee that this season is going to feel a little different, a little fresher. She has a different sensibility.

What exactly will your role be?
KRIPKE: I see my job as being a safety net and just making sure that the show falls in the broadest possible parameters…. Sera and Bob [Singer] are pitching episode ideas to me. I’m in the room so far for every episode break. I pitch a couple of episode ideas, pitch a couple issues of how to fix some problems and some breaks. I’m giving some script notes. I’m still in it; I think, frankly, Sera and Bob wish I backed the hell up. [Laughs]

Will you be writing any episodes?
KRIPKE: I think I will certainly be writing an episode this year. I am also slated to direct an episode in February.

What do you say to those fans who felt the show should have ended with season 5?
KRIPKE: My answer to that is time will tell. I have high hopes for this season. I remember the same kind of concerns when we bumped off Yellow Eyes in season 2. We killed their Big Bad and where were we going to go now? We always found a different place to go. People forget that I didn’t [originally] want angels in the show. Then we introduced the angels and then it spun the story line in a way that was really rich for us. This is a show that ends story lines and starts new ones and reinvents itself. I think because it is hardwired into the DNA of the show, it will weather a lot of transition and growth. The question is not should it have ended, the question is, Is the new story line compelling and interesting and is it an arena of this universe that we haven’t explored yet and is it putting Sam and Dean into new situations that we haven’t seen before? I think it does all of the above.

Okay, what is the new story line?
KRIPKE: One of the first things Sera and Bob talked to me about was that the angel thing is rightfully exhausted, so where do you go from there? Not to say that angels and demons won’t be a part of the story line, because they will. Castiel will be there. Crowley will be there. The beloved characters will be threading into the story. But the great undiscovered country of Supernatural is kind of right in front of our face: creatures and monsters. We have had so many creature episodes but we haven’t actually explained where they came from—[similar] to the way we have explored angels and demons. How do they feel about the situations they are in? Are they from here? Where did the first ones come from? How did werewolves and vampires and shape-shifters all begin anyway? I thought that was a really smart notion on [Sera and Bob's] part, just exploring the history of that, because that was something that we never investigated on the show.

How does Grandpa [Mitch Pileggi] fit into this?
KRIPKE: He’s representative of the other side of this exploration, which is that Sam and Dean have a family of hunters that they never knew they had. Their grandfather is the head of that family. Remember, it’s not the Winchesters who are famous hunters, it’s the Campbells. And we are saying that the Campbells are part of a timeline of hunters that have been there since the country’s origins. As Sera put it, they were hacking heads off vampires on the Mayflower. For Sam and Dean to really tap into a family history, which they never knew they had and again never really investigated before, is pretty interesting to us.

'Supernatural': Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki celebrate 100 episodes

"Supernatural" is the Little Engine That Could of genre TV. It struggled to maintain its ratings when The WB folded into The CW, and has been on the verge of cancellation more than once. At the 100th episode party, executive producer Sera Gamble laughed, "Nobody ever thought we would get this far!"

The cast and crew celebrated in style. Zap2it was on the scene at the Creation Salute to "Supernatural" while stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki enjoyed breakfast with fans and talked about the party, where Ackles sang with his band, The Impalas.

"The entire band -- it's six guys, and every one of them is a crew man on our show. One of our guitar players is also our boom operator," Ackles says. "It wasn't like we held auditions or anything." While it's doubtful that The Impalas will be taking their show on the road, Ackles isn't ruling out repeat performances. "Hey, we're going back for a sixth season, so we'll definitely get to play again."

"It was pretty rockin'," Padalecki adds. "Encore tour!"

The 100th episode milestone isn't one that a lot of shows reach. Padalecki is quick to give credit where it's due. "It's really because of [the fans]. This is a show that's hard to follow and you all got involved and kept involved. It's one of those shows that smart people know about," he jokes, "but not the rest, so it's good to know that we have such a powerful support force."

As an expression of their gratitude, Ackles and Padalecki are spending the summer circling the globe to meet their fans. They recently returned from a fan convention in Rome, and they'll be heading off to Australia shortly for another one. In the past, they've spent their hiatus time working on movies like "Friday the 13th" and "My Bloody Valentine," so the time off is a welcome change.

That's not to say they don't have big dreams. When a fan asks Padalecki what movie he would've liked to be in this year, he says, "I guess 'Avatar.' It'd be fun to retire." He admits that he hasn't seen many movies lately. "I've had some planning going on the last few months."

He's referring to his recent wedding to "Supernatural" co-star Genevieve Cortese. He holds out his hand to flash his ring. "I thought it was one of those rings you put on and you turn invisible," he jokes. "But it's not."

"Well, to certain people you do," Ackles says.

"Like the wife," Padalecki replies. "She's like 'All right, forget about you!'"

After the wedding, Padalecki had more time to stir up his usual brand of trouble on the set. "Sorry, man, I'm going to bust you. Jared and Misha [Collins] got into a bit of an automobile sabotage battle," Ackles says. "See, Jared decided that Misha's car was in the way. So he rear-ended it."

"I thought it was moving!" Padalecki interrupts. Collins retaliated by intentionally side-swiping Jared's car. "I've got a big truck, and he's got a nice sedan. Very classy, like you'd expect Misha to have. Nice."

"I walk out of my trailer the next day," Ackles continues, "and I see Jared. It's dark, and he's out there with a flashlight, letting all the air out of Misha's tires." They were filming in what Padalecki calls "the dregs" of downtown Vancouver, and Collins got stuck on location.

Ackles says that the story doesn't end there. "So then I find Misha on the phone with a tow truck company. Literally, Jared is on his way back from the set, and Misha's on the phone like 'You gotta get here A.S.A.P., we gotta get this SUV outta here and tow it back to the studio.' Man, I was glad I didn't drive my car to work that day."

"Misha lives in his own reality," Padalecki adds. Off-the-record, he detailed his plans for retaliation. Collins -- who is, of course, a Zap2it favorite -- is in for a surprise.

Thursday (April 15), the 100th "Supernatural" episode, "Point of No Return" finds Ackles' character, Dean, in a very dark place. Though he's been searching for a way to cheat destiny, he's given up and is ready to surrender to the archangel Michael in order to defeat Lucifer -- and wipe out most of mankind in the process.

On Living Sam and Dean, Costars Who Smell Bad, and Looking Ahead to Season Six

We were lucky enough to join a small group of fans at last weekend’s Supernatural convention in LA for a ‘private Q&A’ with Jared and Jensen. Private is a relative term – it’s not like we were having alone time with the boys, alas. But talking to someone sitting right across from you, without an intervening microphone, is a lot more informal than asking questions in a packed auditorium with security flanking both sides of the stage, so this was fun – and an excellent opportunity for some more Fangasm questions!

LA 2010 Supernatural convention

Jared and Jensen pulled up chairs (Jared immediately spun his around and straddled it, leaning his elbows on the back like a big kid) and were laid back and eager to chat. The small group of fangirls (and one fanboy), on the other hand, were surprisingly quiet – and maybe not so surprisingly nervous. Some had their questions written on index cards, presumably in case the sight of the boys up close and personal and engaged in normal conversation was too distracting to allow higher brain functions to work properly – which we can completely understand. Lynn was the only one partaking of the appetizers that the con thoughtfully provided – hey, free food! — though she managed not to talk with her mouth full for the most part.
We were thrilled when Jensen brought up his admiration for Serge Ladouceur’s talent during the Q&A on the main stage earlier (you can read about our own admiration in our two-part interview with Serge here). In the private Q&A, Jensen brought Serge up again, saying that he’d even lit the two Dean’s differently in “The End”, a subtle but crucial difference.
So we were glad to have the chance to tell Jensen and Jared what Serge had said to us about his admiration for them – and their amazing ability to emote without resorting to artificial tears. The boys seemed pleased, and then we asked, “So, how do you do that?”
Jensen jumped in to answer first, saying that it’s changed — in the beginning, when he and Jared didn’t really know each other that well, and neither of them really knew their characters, they needed to think about something from their real lives in order to ‘get there.’ Jensen talked about how Jared thought about having to put down his own beloved dogs, Sadie and Harley, when Sam was faced with killing Madison the werewolf in the episode “Heart.” The parallels made the emotions even more powerful – so much that Jensen got choked up for real thinking about how much it would hurt Jared to do that. So both Sam’s anguish – and the heartbreaking image of Dean’s single tear of empathy – were both genuine. Jensen added with empathy of his own that it took a long time for Jared to calm down after shooting that day.
Now neither actor has to think about something from their lives outside of Supernatural. As Jensen said, they know these characters well enough to actually feel their emotions. He knows what Dean will feel in a given situation, and Jared knows what Sam will feel. When Sam died in Dean’s arms in “All Hell Breaks Loose”, that anguish was all Dean’s, because Jensen knows how Dean would feel if Sam were dead. Jared knew exactly how Sam would feel seeing Dean “ribboned” (Jensen’s words) by the hell hounds at the end of Season 3. Sam was devastated, torn apart, and his reaction was simply the natural result of that agony. They’re living these characters, and understand what Sam and Dean are to each other. And that knowledge – both of their characters, and of their characters’ bond – allows them to just feel, and the camera captures the results.
Jensen went on to say that being able to feel as your character makes a difference to how emotions look onscreen, because you’re allowing yourself to feel what you would feel without trying, instead of saying in your head, “okay, I have to cry here.” Neither of the actors has to do that on Supernatural, and that’s what gives their understated acting such an emotional punch for viewers. As Jensen said, most of the time when you’re that upset in real life, you’re not trying to cry, you’re trying not to cry. And if Dean is really feeling that anguish, then he can try to hold it together too, and Jensen can show that because he’s really experiencing it. “It’s hard work, your body doesn’t know the difference,” he said again, as he’s noted before. “It can mess you up inside crying like that, sometimes for the rest of the day”.
(Jensen also gave the example of how tempting it is to overact when you’re trying to convey being drunk – when in reality, if you’re drunk you’re usually trying not to look it! This was accompanied by a hysterical demonstration of inebriated overacting, complete with ungainly sprawls in his chair and a few slurred words. We were reminded of the time we were interviewing him and he decided to act out an airport encounter with a twelve year old girl. Of course, he played both parts. Perfectly. Never try to drink something while you’re interviewing Jensen Ackles, unless you want to choke on it when he cracks you up).
Jared added that he and Jensen are both very attuned to when that kind of overplaying is happening with other actors. Good Will Hunting is one of Jared’s favorite films, but there’s one scene where the actor just doesn’t quite get it right – there’s a specific quirk of his mouth that doesn’t strike the appropriate expression, and it throws Jared out of the moment every time he sees it. As we sat there listening and nodding our heads at the boys in enthusiastic agreement, we realized that hardly ever happens in Supernatural – and how rare that is in film, and especially in television.
The boys answered a few questions about each other, which gave them a chance to pat each other on the back in a rather heartwarming way. Jensen said he “gets a kick out of it” when Jared gets to do lighter, more comedic scenes, because a) he doesn’t get enough of them, and b) he’s great at them. He cited “Bad Day at Black Rock” as an example, doing an impromptu imitation of Sam’s “I lost my shoooooe.” Oh, boys.
Jensen also got a chance to pay homage to Jared’s acting chops when someone asked a question about how he’d play the angel Michael if Dean ends up saying yes. Jensen said he’d take inspiration from the way Jared played Lucifer possessing Sam in “The End” – in fact, when actor Matt Cohen came to Jensen for advice on how to play young John possessed by Michael, Jensen actually took Matt to his trailer and played him the clip of Jared as Lucifer. “See?” he said to Matt, “Same guy, but different. You’re still his brother, but also this angelic otherworldly presence.” Jensen went on to say, “I was really impressed with Jared in “The End” as Lucifer, really proud of him.” He says that if he does ever get to play Michael, he’ll take Jared’s lead and try to copy how well he did it.
Jared listened with a shy grin on his face while Jensen sang his praises, which was all kinds of adorable. And Jared? We totally agree with Jensen. He rocked that scene.
Jensen also said that working with Jared as Lucifer was extremely difficult, because although he was playing Dean, he was getting none of the customary “Sam” responses back from Jared. They both talked about how much they depend on that closeness, that interplay between the brothers. As Jensen said, “Jared played Lucifer with Dean as if he didn’t mean anything to me.”
Not having that made “The End” one of the hardest episodes they’ve done, but also one they’re very proud of. Both like seeing the other tackle a different side of their character, like Future Dean or Sam/Lucifer – they seem to get a great deal of joy out of seeing the other have a chance to shine.
Their answer to our question was quite serious (and quite long – a great opportunity for an extended conversation, so believe me, we weren’t complaining!) But the boys were also playful, saying that when they read a new script what they get most excited about is figuring out if they have any days off, and telling tales out of school about costars who smell bad. (No, not just Jared. Apparently Jessica Alba and Katie Holmes have had some less-than-fragrant moments too. )
Someone asked about working together so much, and the boys talked about how close they were, not just with each other, but with the entire crew, the cameramen “right up in our space” and how they knew the crew as well or better than family and friends because they spend so much more time with them. They’ve all seen each other grow and change for five years, and most of the crew have stayed with the show even in the face of pay cuts, because Supernatural is such an amazing set to work on. One crew guy said he’d find it nearly impossible to work anywhere else. On our own visits to the Supernatural set over the past few years, we heard person after person say exactly the same thing.
Which means that we – and they – are very excited to have a Season 6! Jensen said that Season 1 and the current season are his favorites, so he’s excited that S6 might be a sort of ‘reset’ to Season 1. In fact, Jensen told us that the writers are already sketching out Seasons 7 and 8 “just in case”, which made us want to squee with delight. The boys seemed pretty delighted too.

Both Jensen and Jared talked about how this season is going to get very dark, how Sam and Dean “have to hit rock bottom” and eventually “have it out.” Somehow, sitting there watching Jensen and Jared take turns convincing us of each other’s merits (like anyone in the room needed convincing….) and listening to how intimately they know their characters and understand the strength of Sam and Dean’s bond, we’re not too worried about the outcome.

As ghost buster Dean Winchester on the WB hit Supernatural, Jensen Ackles can sniff out evil in a heartbeat. But in real life, he's got a nose for what's sexy: "I love the smell of shampoo on a girl's hair," says the former Days of Our Lives actor, 27. Ackles, a Texas native and one of PEOPLE's Sexiest Men of 2005, filled us in about what else makes him weak in the knees.

What's your type?
Me and my buddies say, "Someone who gets it." Gets sarcasm, gets high-brow humor. Ultimately, someone who you can pal around with and also be intimate with. Someone who can l.augh at your jokes – it may sound cheesy, but someone who can be your best friend as well as your lover.

What's the sexiest thing a woman can wear?
I'm into a casual-dressing girl: blue jeans and a tank top is super sexy. But the sexiest thing on a girl – when I see it I'm like, oh my God – is these little tight boxers. Don't get me wrong – g-strings are fine – but those cover a little, to where it's just enough.

Do you and costar Jared Padalecki ever go out carousing?
I do my best to corrupt the little guy, but sometimes I've got to respect his relationship (with actress Sandra McCoy).

How about the fan love? Any wild moments?
Sometimes if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and you walk out of a bar and a guy's girlfriend recognizes you and the guy doesn't like it too much and starts hollering at you – that can get tricky. That happened to Jared and me a couple of months ago.

What's your hidden talent?
I have a buddy of mine who's a musician and I play guitar and sing quite a bit with him.

What's the best present you've ever given a woman?
I would say it was a black pearl ring that I designed for her. The pearl I picked up in Tahiti at a market and fished through a bowl full of these pearls until I found my favorite one. The worst gift that I ever gave a girl was a suitcase for Christmas. As in, "I can't think of anything to give you, but here's a new suitcase." Afterward, I was like, "What were you thinking, idiot?"

Interview by Kayley Thomas 2010 is the year of the Lindberg. The 33-year-old actor’s no stranger to the business, mind you. If you didn’t catch his early debut in Black Circle Boys, that’s a little horror flick you’re probably going to want to check out regardless. You might also have seen him in an episode of The X-Files or Buffy the Vampire Slayer once upon a time. Or maybe you remember him as Jesse in The Fast and the Furious or O’Dell in October Sky? With starring roles in films like Punk Love, The Other Side of the Tracks, and Push, plus recurring roles in recent years on Supernatural and CSI: NY, Chad’s been a busy man, but rest assured, you’ll be seeing more of him soon. He’ll be joining interviewee Sarah Butler in the upcoming I Spit On Your Grave as well as reprising his role as the mullet-rocking, 'Dr. of Bad-Ass', Ash, in this season of Supernatural...
Assumed dead, Chad will be bringing Ash back from the grave in the near future, and as we got a chance to sit down and talk about, this is due in part to his fans’ love and support of him. There’s something about Chad Lindberg that’s managed to steal away the hearts of many a Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles-loving, convention-going fangirl. He’s got his own fanvids and quite the Twitter following. It could be because he’s funny as hell. It could be because he’s a complete doll. The guy makes an effort to send some internet lovin’ out to all of his fans, and he’s been a hit at a number of Supernatural conventions over the last few years, rocking out at Guitar Hero and getting down to the brass tacks about the Hollywood industry. That, and he’s just plain talented, with a gift for raw, honest emotion along with excellent comedic timing. Chad and I took some time out to talk I Spit On Your Grave, the sex appeal of Ash, his role in the documentary My Big Break, adventures with ghosts, some of his online shenanigans, and a love of controversy. If this boy doesn’t win your heart over, we may have to check your pulse.

First, let’s talk I Spit On Your Grave. Had you seen the film before you took the part?

Chad: I didn’t know it was a remake, actually! I auditioned, and I read the script, and I’m like, "Woah, this is intense, okay." And actually my agent tried to get me to go in for one of the other characters, which is not what I was right for at all. And I was like, you know, I could be right for the part of Matthew, the stuttering, retarded kid. So I went in and got called back in twice, and I got cast. I started looking online and doing research on the director or whatever, and I came across it – you know, when they sent out the audition, it was for Day of the Woman, so they kind of pulled a fast one and no one really knew it was a remake.
But this cast is just really, really good and I fell in love with everybody. They’re really great people, and that’s rare. Definitely the feeling on the set was that we got something here; this is going to be something. This is going to be something people talk about, at least, if nothing else. We’re really excited. We’re doing scenes that would make the hair on the back of our necks stand up and make us nauseated. At the same time, it’s a thrill for us as actors to be in scenes that really sort of tweak you out. We all kind of got tweaked, and I don’t think we expected to get as tweaked as we did.

think there’s definitely going to be a huge response to it. I’m sure there are going to be fans of the original that are really excited, but I’m hoping we get some of that controversy too. I think anytime you have a film that really is important, you’ve got people questioning it. You’ve got people starting a dialogue about it. I mean, the original is mentioned in sort of academic books on horror.
Chad: I know, right?! It’s pretty interesting. It’s like a pop culture phenomenon. I think a lot of people would look at that movie and be like, oh, it’s despicable, how could you make a movie like that? When in truth, it’s empowering the woman. I mean, she goes back and gets revenge on all these men for raping her and leaving her for dead. It’s interesting how the original director came up with the movie. He was telling us on set. Him and his son or daughter, they were driving along in New York one day, and this lady came barreling out of the bushes half-naked and torn, and they stopped and took care of her, and they put her in the car and they took her to the doctor and the police. That’s how it started. That’s where he got the idea. So it came from a place of good intentions, as weird as that is with a movie like that. But it also pushed buttons and sort of pushed boundaries, and I think that’s exciting when you get to do that in a film, regardless of the material. If people are questioning, if you’re pushing boundaries – you know, I’m a big fan of controversy. It gets people talking, and gets them riled up... if we can do that, we’ve done our jobs.

So Meir Zarchi was on set during the film?

Chad: Yeah, he’s got a part in this. He signed off on it. It’s interesting, you see online a lot of bashing already from all the hardcores – "why are they doing this, Hollywood’s gonna screw it up" – well, we have the thumbs up from the original’s director and his input into the movie. So I think the fans are going to be pleasantly surprised. We’re bringing a style to this. It makes ugly look pretty – does that make sense? I think they’re trying to make ugly look pretty in a way. It’s shot beautifully. The performances are there. It’s going to be gnarly. Gnarly!

I like that. It makes ugly look pretty. That’s good. Sarah mentioned that it was a matter of taking something that had so much potential and polishing it, really making it shine. That seemed like such an odd term to talk about a film like this, but yet I understood what she meant. To actually make it visually stunning. I hear that it was mostly handheld, right?

Chad: Yeah, I would say 98% of it was handheld. Just right up in there. I think a lot of people are worried it’s going to be cheesy, it’s going to be campy, but it’s not. It’s going to be raw, it’s going to be in your face, and it’s going to be an affecting film. One way or the other, people are going to feel disgusted, offended, stimulated, all of the above. If we can do that – if we can actually have people walking out of the theaters, we’ve done our job.

So Sarah mentioned that she kind of felt bad for you guys that you were put in some really uncomfortable positions, as far as just physically on the set, that you were tied up for hours at a time and really had to put up with this kind of discomfort that you really might not have with a lot of films. What was one of the most physically uncomfortable moments on set for you?

Chad: For me, without giving too much away, I think I had the easiest of all the death scenes. Everybody else – Danny Franzese had a lot of makeup that had to be done. I kind of got off easy on that part. For me the most uncomfortable was probably the rape scene. It was literally nauseating. After they cut, I’d literally just go into the corner outside and hurl. Just heave. There was really that energy on set – the gagging sort of reflex. But Sarah was just super, and I’ve got nothing but respect for her. She took that role by the balls and she handled it with professionalism and class, and I don’t think a lot of, dare I say, name actresses, would have gone through that and put up with that and done such a great job and not complained. She’s going to have an awesome career. On top of being down-to-earth and real, she really stepped up and that’s not an easy role to endure. She had a couple moments where she had to like go off and sort of – she freaked out a few times, naturally. But she was always ready to come back and do it again. That made it easy on us. All of us guys, we took care of her like a sister. We looked out for her and made sure she was comfortable, and we all love each other, we all got along, we all hung out afterwards. We had to sort of, to shake it off.
Everybody brought their A-game. They added a new character, played by Andrew Howard, who is a stellar actor and one of those actors who just kind of electrifies you on set and pulls you in. I really appreciate and respect Steven Monroe. He had a great laid back style of directing and knew exactly what he wanted. I respect him and I'm very thankful for him giving me such an amazing opportunity to be in such a unique movie experience, along with the producer, Lisa Hansen. All the way around, it was probably one of my favorite movie-making experiences of my life, and I’ve done quite a few. This was up there, and I’m really proud of it. I hope people enjoy it, and I hope people don’t enjoy it. [laughs]

How do you think I Spit On Your Grave fits in with the current horror market? We’ve had this torture porn genre developing – like Eli Roth films and such – where do you think this fits in with that kind of trend?

Chad: I think it definitely fits in more these days than back then. With movies like Saw and Hostel, all of those movies are pushing the boundaries on violence. I think it’s more acceptable these days; I don’t think it’s going to be as acceptable with Spit. Mixing in the big long torture rape scenes – that’s like half of the movie. That might be a little uncomfortable for people because it’s so drawn out – you’re like, oh my god, this just keeps going and going and going and going. When does it end?! Then it switches, and she [Jennifer] comes back and then she really – that’s when they really amp up the torture on us. In the original, it was kind of short and sweet, I guess? But in this one, they really amp it up. And at the end, regardless of the material and the subject matter, it’s entertainment. It’s a movie. That’s it. We’ll see what people have to say. I know a lot of the people online are already all, oh, why are they remaking this, oh it’s going to be terrible. But we’re just like, no, I don’t think you know. This is good. We hope so at least.

I’m sure it will be. Speaking of good things...you’re coming back to Supernatural!

Chad: Yeah! I actually got the news when I was wrapping up filming in Louisiana, that they were bringing me back, and I was floored. I was blown away. I’m extremely honored and grateful for Eric Kripke and the crew up there for thinking of me and bringing me back, but also - partly why I chose to announce it on Twitter was because I owe it to the fans. I spent three years doing conventions and really built sort of close relationships with all of these people, and I really feel like I’ve been in-tune with them over the years and listening to how much people wanted Ash back and listening to the love from them and their videos and petitions and their letters. And their good energy being put out there – I truly believe that is why I’m back, and I owe it half to them. I announced it because I wanted to share that with them, and it wasn’t just me, it wasn’t just Ash, it wasn’t just Supernatural bringing me back – it was the fans that brought me back too. Supernatural fans, I believe, are one of the most powerful fanbases out there! They can move mountains, they can shut down Twitter. They’re not to be fucked with.

Damn straight. It’s true, though. Seeing fans have so much power and a show that actually respects their audience that way is pretty singular; you don’t see that very often. It’s got to be something to be a part of that.

Chad: It’s wonderful to be a part of that. It’s a dream come true. I’m excited to bring Dr. Bad-Ass back, and the Good Doctor is in. How he will be, I shall not reveal. There’ll be some excitement. I think it’s going to be good. It’s definitely going to give me a boost – new fans – and this is like Supernatural’s biggest season.
Definitely. Could be the last...
Chad: It could be the last. It’s hard to say. I hope not! I hope to go at least one more. We’ll see what happens. I’m just thankful to go back, and do some good Ash one-liners, whip the mullet one more time... but yeah, the Good Doctor is back, and I’m very excited and honored and blessed.
Awesome. Well, I know all of the Supernatural fans are really excited.
Chad: Yeah, the response from that was overwhelming. So many people were so excited to hear that. I wanted the fans to feel like they had a hand in it because they definitely did, and I thank them, and want to keep them close along the way, to make them feel like they’re helping me build - building with me. Thanks to Twitter, Facebook, my god – it’s really opened up a lot of avenues, I believe. You don’t know who you’re going to meet or talk to. It’s pretty cool.

ince you are our Scary Stud and everything, what would you say are some of Dr. Bad-Ass’s turn-ons?
Chad: Ash’s turn-ons: Problems. Math. Beer, definitely. And multitudes of ladies. He’s not a one-woman man! He likes to have both arms around a lady at the same time. It’s just the way it is with him. It could be a curse of his. He’s certainly been harassed for his sexiness, but he oozes sex appeal. So I would say those are his turn-ons.
I’d really love to see an episode where you steal the chicks away from under Jared and Jensen’s watchful eyes.
Chad: Well, somebody made a video – "The New Face of Sexy" with Justin Timberlake’s "Bringing Sexy Back." It’s hysterical! It’s really, really funny, and they did a really good job. It’s all Ash and the ladies and Jared and Jensen are like, huh?!

So what attracted you to playing Ash to start with? When you read the script, what were you thinking? I’m really going to don a mullet, and I’m going to rock it?

Chad: I’m always about the mullet. I’m always about changing my look if I can. When I got the script, the character just felt like it fit. I knew exactly what to go in there and do. I wore my sleeveless flannel with torn jeans; I think I had a belt buckle that said "Fuck you" on it. I went in there, I shook everyone’s hand, and then what I did was I opened up my flannel, bare-chested, and I just whipped it open and started going off, and that was it. They were howling in the room. Some things you read, you just know. Like, this has got to be me, or I have a good shot. It was one of those characters that fit. I knew I could do it. I knew what they were looking for. I’m quirky, and the character’s quirky. I got it, and I was just ecstatic. I really didn’t know at the time Supernatural was very popular – what it was, and what it is today, by all means. So I did it, and did like four episodes, and I think my burnt hand appeared in the fifth. "My" burnt hand in quotation marks. I had quite a life. Ash had quite a life after Supernatural. All of the conventions – the fans did not let him die. And for that I’m grateful.

I wanted to talk a little bit about My Big Break, too. It’s been something sort of related to Supernatural in a way; the show’s fandom kind of started getting the ball rolling again a little bit, though certainly it’s garnered interest on its own. I was curious – as far as screening it – what’s it been like for you to watch part of your history sort of unfold before your eyes?
[My Big Break is a documentary by Tony Zierra exploring the lives of four roommates working as actors in LA – Chad, Brad Rowe, Greg Fawcett, and Wes Bentley. The film takes an honest, unflinching look at the realities of being a working actor, in times of success and disappointment, some of which has prevented its release for almost ten years. Recently the documentary has been hitting the festival circuit to raving reviews and will hopefully be seeing a wide release soon. Check out wwww.mybigbreakmovie.com for more info]

Chad: It’s interesting. I’ve seen it quite a bit now. When Tony first showed it to me, we were in an editing room, and I started crying. It rattled me. It definitely is one of those movies that rattles people quite a bit, and it’s a very affecting movie. But now, seeing the screenings, seeing it with people, I kind of watch it through their eyes, and I’m able to separate myself now from it. It’s a thrill. I look at the movie as a teaching tool. People want to go to Hollywood, become famous, become actors – well, that’s all fine and good, if that’s really what you want to do. But it has to be in you, or you’re wasting your time because it’s a hard business. Even when you’re succeeding, it’s tough. I wouldn’t change it for anything. I really hope that movie is a good teaching tool, for actors as well as people in the business, and also it’s a little controversial. I think it’s going to be a controversial year for Chad Lindberg. If people are talking, we’ve done our job. We won Best Documentary in Boston Film Festival, we were nominated at Raindance for Best Documentary, so it’s definitely getting a response, an overwhelmingly great response, everywhere we show it. Nothing negative yet. I think it’s an eye-opener. People are like, whoa, so that’s what it’s like. It’s just a real good true depiction of one story out of many.

I know when I helped screen it at the Harrisburg Arts Fest FilmFest [where it also won Best Documentary], the responses were incredible. People were really kind of stunned; when you turned the lights back on, they looked sort of dumbfounded. Like, "really, that’s what it’s like? This isn’t Entourage!"

Chad: I know! It’s interesting. The first screening with Supernatural fans – it was interesting to hear some of them talk afterwards. They were like, well, now we kind of look at Jared and Jensen in a different way. It’s good, I think, for both sides, for the actors and fans, for the people curious about Hollywood. It’s kind of exciting. I’m hoping it does well, when it’s supposed to. It’s been a hell of a long journey with that movie. We’ve been incredibly patient. We’ll see. It’s a good time for me. I feel like I’m seeing a lot happening. I’ve been doing a lot of work, and I feel like the seeds I’ve planted are sort of coming to fruition, and things are coming my way a lot more naturally. I’m really excited. 2010 is going to be a bitchin’ year. I mean, dare we talk about Sniff?

Oh, I have notes on that. We should definitely talk about that. That’s what everyone’s here for. So, speaking of Sniff, what inspired you and Josh to embark upon this project?
[Sniff is a short video that Chad and Josh Cowdery released at Funny or Die. It became a Twitter and Facebook viral hit and has been a long-running joke between Chad and I.]

Chad: Well, you know, Sniff is one of those movies that only comes along every once in a blue moon. We were just dicking off with camera and we thought it would be funny just to do something where we were reacting back and forth. And then we were filming, which took about two minutes of our time, and I started sniffing, and he started sniffing, and we both worked really well off of each other. We were just doing this sniff back and forth. So I went home and I cut it together, and Josh came over to my house and I showed it to him, and we were rolling around hysterically, and he was like, "How about we call it Sniff?" And I’m like, "That’s fucking brilliant. Like Blow." So Sniff has become a huge joke between Josh and I, and we’ve definitely shared it with many of the fans and they’ve got a kick out of it. Now it’s become a huge running joke, and it kind of started me and Josh’s working relationship. I think he’s a very talented actor, and he’s getting his foot planted in the door. It’s good to work with your friends, if you and your buddies can make something you think is funny. And especially now with Funny or Die and all these venues, especially with Twitter, I can make a stupid video, and 300 people are going to see it within two minutes. It’s really exciting. You couldn’t do that 10 years ago. It took 10 minutes to get the computer on and up and running. Now you can just put stuff out there like that. Sniff was actually sort of a fun thing to get us excited, and we’re going to make a lot more videos and movies.

As much as I tease you about it, it really is hilarious, and it is this perfect example of Funny or Die, Twitter, this new move for media. That you can throw something out there, and it can kind of snowball and people spread the word and turn people onto something, and then you’ve got how many hits all of a sudden. So you guys are going to be putting some more videos together? Am I smelling a sequel?

Chad: Definitely. It’s 2010, and Josh and I have talked about, dare I say again, Sniff 2. There may be a Sniff 2 in the works.

Why not throw it in there? It’s a year of controversy.

Chad: It is a year of controversy! And Sniff is extremely controversial. Forget about I Spit On Your Grave. I mean, this is like, as controversial as it gets.

I’ll send it to Roger Ebert and see what he thinks. So is there anything kind of off the top of your head that you haven’t done as an actor yet that you’d like to do? Whether it’s a type of role or a genre or someone you want to work with... Or is that something you don’t focus on?

Chad: You know, I try not to really focus on that too much. I get excited when things come along, and I’ll be, oh yeah I’d love to work with this person or that person, but actually, my dream job? I want to get a hold of the show Ghost Adventures, and I would love to be a guest investigator with them once. That’s what I would want to do. If I wasn’t an actor, I think I’d want to go into paranormal investigating.

So you’re a believer, then?

Chad: Oh, I’ve seen ‘em, I’ve heard ‘em. I absolutely believe. I think it’s thrilling. I think that brings you as close to the other side as you can possibly get. It’s a rush, man. I’ve actually considered trying to get a hold of the show and asking them if they would have me on as a celebrity guest! It seems like it’d be possible. Why not? Especially with the whole Supernatural tie-in, you think it’d be perfect.

We can organize a fan letter thing or something. I’ll hook that up. Do you have any ghost experiences you can share in the meantime?

Chad: A couple of years ago my buddy and I were out at like 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning, and we’re standing at the corner of this street in LA. We sort of look up the block, and we see this lady cross the street. She’s in this black nightgown, right? It was like an evening gown. And we were kind of checking her out. She looked good! But we’re like, what is it with this chick? It’s 4 in the morning, this is kind of strange. We see her walk across the street, and she starts bending down and picking up these long flowers off of the ground in a very peculiar way. She had her arm bent as if she was carrying a baby, and she’s laying these flowers in her arm. She starts to walk away from us, and we follow her, because my house was up the block and we had to go that way anyway. So we kind of followed her – we’re like a half of a block back – and we’re following her up the street, and we’re getting closer and closer to her. It’s just kind of strange, this lady, for some reason. So we were like, okay, let’s try to get a look at her. So we’re getting closer and closer on her, and we realize we don’t hear her walking. She’s got this big, long black evening gown on, and when we go to look at her face, she does this really creepy sort of gesture with her hand to cover up her face. So she turns away from us to cover up her face, and then she sits on the curb. And this just makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up talking about it. She sits down on the curb, and we pass her because we’re thinking, we don’t want to freak this girl out. We get about 10 or 15 steps up the road and we turn to each other like, "that was a ghost. I think we just saw a ghost." And we go back, and she’s gone. Years later, I’m talking to my buddy who lives in the area, and apparently there was a girl there who I believe – I don’t know if this is true or not – was murdered and Ashton Kutcher was going to pick this girl up for a date and found her dead. But it was in that area. So we’re kind of thinking maybe that was... I don’t know. It was intense. Especially when you have somebody who’s seeing the exact same thing that you are seeing.
[Chad, you better not be bullshitting me. Do a search on “Ashton Kutcher’s dead girlfriend” and see what comes up. It’s a time-killer, at least, and much more interesting than Kutcher’s Twitter, if you ask me.]
That was one instance. A couple I used to live in a house with in LA used to put these beads in the doorway – twice when I was standing there and the things just went blowing everywhere, not like a wind, but like somebody was running through them. No one was around, and that was kind of intense a couple of times. You sit there and you’re like, all right, that happens, there are things here, and you just kind of have to roll with it. I get off on that. It’s scary, but I love that stuff too.
Hopefully we’ll see Chad in some more scary roles in the future. He brings a unique energy to every role he undertakes, and I hear he’s got some hot tattoos hidden away. You know, if you care about that kind of thing. In the meantime, tune into Supernatural – Chad wouldn’t tell me when he’d be appearing, but guaranteed it’ll be a kick-ass time. Forget bringing sexy back (wait, I think we’ve long tried to); Chad’s bringing the mullet back, and it’s going to blow those pansy CW vampires out of the water.

Was so viel heißt für jeden Monat ein anderes Kalenderbild für den Desktop als Wallpaper.

Jared und Jensen haben ihre Freundschaft auf und hinter dem Schirm gestärkt, seitdem die Show begann. Ist das in einer Staffel wie dieser ideal, wenn die Brüder sich emotional an einem seltsamen Punkt befinden und wir ein wenig mehr über ihre Verbindung mit Luzifer und den Engeln wissen?

E.K.:

Wir haben wirklich Glück, die beiden zu haben.
Es ist sehr angenehm. Die beiden haben sehr viel Respekt voreinander und und so was wie eine innere Verbindung so können sie geradewegs reinspringen und wirklich einige Dinge versuchen, die etwas grenzwertig sind oder in Bezug auf den Konflikt und Wut verschieden sind. Sie fühlen sich wohl dabei zu diesem Punkt zu kommen, weil sie so gut zusammenarbeiten und sie wissen, dass die andere Person das ertragen kann.

Es gibt viel unterschwelligen Humor, wie, z.B. die Supernatural Fan Convention oder der wissende Blick von Sam, wenn House of Wax erwähnt wird. Wie balancieren Sie das aus mit der ernsten Geschichte und ist das leichter im Laufe der Jahre geworden?

E.K.:

Ich würde sagen, dass wir das wahrscheinlich zukünftig zurückschrauben. Mein eigenes persönliches Gefühl ist wir machen das vermutlich ein wenig zu oft und gehen vielleicht auch ein wenig zu weit. Der grösste Teil der Zeit machen wir das wirklich gut. Wir tun das um uns selbst ein bisschen zu veralbern und geben dem Publikum so zu verstehen das wir, die Schreiber der Show, uns selbst nicht zu ernst nehmen. Es gibt nichts Schlechteres als selbstwichtigen Horror. Am Ende des Tages sind Sie im Business um Leute zu erschrecken und "Boo!“ zu sagen ihre Herzen auszureißen und Blut auf den Bildschirm zu spritzen, um so zu sagen, dass ich eine epische religiöse Geschichte etwas zu aufgeblasen und unaufrichtig erzähle. Wir kitzeln das gerne heraus, machen Scherze und haben einen wirklich gesunden Sinn für Humor über die Charaktere und über uns selbst.

Kommt der gefallene Engel Anna Milton (Julie McNiven) zurück in der zweiten Hälfte der Staffel?

E.K.:

Sie kommt zurück. Allerdings auf eine Art die, wie ich denke, für die Fans ziemlich überraschend sein wird. Sie ist ganz anders als der Engel, den wir beim letzten Mal sahen. Sie ist in einer Episode, in dem Sam, Dean, Castiel [Misha Collins] und Anna in der Zeit zurück reisen, um mit John und Mary, Sams und Deans Eltern, zu sprechen, als sie noch jung waren. Wir haben das schon einmal in Staffel 4 gemacht und wir gehen zurück, weil es mehr von ihrer Geschichte zu erzählen gibt. Wenn sie sie dieses Mal finden, sind sie frisch verheiratet und leben in einer Wohnung, und John kämpft um seinen Job. Es ist interessant kleine Schnapschüsse zu sehen, wie ihre Familie war, bevor die Jungen geboren wurden.

Welche anderen Überaschungen dürfen die Fans erwarten?

E.K.:
Wir sind wirklich selbst sehr stolz, das wir immer noch eine Serie sind, wo sich die Leute einfach dazugesellen können. Es gibt sicher die Mythologie-Episoden, aber Sam und Dean kommen in eine Irrenanstalt [in der Episode der nächsten Woche], und es gibt eine Episode in der es um Körpertausch geht. Wir haben eine Valentinstag-Episode, und das ist wahrscheinlich die einzige Valentinstag-Episode einer Show in diesem Jahr, die mit zwei Menschen beginnt, die Sex haben, die dann damit weitermachen sich auf eine sehr gewaltsame und blutige Weise gegenseitig zu essen. [lacht] Wir haben Zombies, wir schicken die Jungs in den Himmel, was eine Welt in unserer Show ist, die wir vorher nie gesehen haben.

Wenn es eine 6. Staffel gibt, wie wollen sie die Apokalypse noch toppen?
E.K.:
Naja, der Trick ist es nicht zu groß werden zu lassen dafür aber vertrauter. - zumindestens sind das die Gespräche die wir gehabt haben, als es um eine mögliche 6. Staffel ging. Wir hatten die Storyline immer auf 5 Jahre ausgelegt, weil ich mir nie vorstellen konnte, dass wir fünf Jahre durchhalten würden. Eher weniger. Wir sind dabei, die Storyline um die Geschichte von Luzifer und Michael und der Apokalypse zum Höhepunkt zu bringen.
Die große Frage ist, wie machen wir das?
Wir sehen das als eine einzigartige Herausforderung aber auch eine Gelegenheit, eine neue Storyline im nächsten Jahr anzufangen. Wir sehen das fast wie die Fortsetzung zu einem Film. Aber nicht wie viele Genre-Shows das tun, die Jahre weitergehen und fast unter ihrer eigenen Mythologie zusammenbrechen und dann zu einem Punkt kommen, wo man nichts davon mehr verfolgen kann. Wir freuen wir uns auf die Gelegenheit alles wieder auf Null zu stellen und mit etwas anderem anzufangen. Wir sprechen über das Zurückbringen einer Version der Show die ähnlich ist wie die erste Staffel, in dem die Mythologie ebenso einfach ist wie ihren Vater zu finden und etwas zu finden das wirklich persönlich und bedeutungsvoll für Sam und Dean ist. Eines der Dinge die schwierig ist was das Ende der Welt angeht, es ist manchmal schwer, eine emotionale Bindung für die Rollen herzustellen. Gerade weil das so groß ist. Aber wenn das die emotionale Storyline, für – sagen wir mal Staffel 6, ist, einen geliebten Menschen zu retten dann ist es etwas, dass man wirklich versteht und das einen mitzieht durch viele der unheimlichen Episoden.

Sie denken also darüber nach was Sie in der nächsten Staffel machen - wie steht's damit mit wem Sie es tun werden? Wir wissen noch nicht, ob Sam und Dean das Ende der Welt überleben werden. Sind sie in Ihre Pläne einbezogen?

E.K.:
"Oh, absolut. Das eine kann ich euch sagen… Es gibt kein Supernatural ohne Sam und Dean. Wenn sie den Bus nicht fahren, dann bin ich nicht sicher, ob es überhaupt einen Bus gibt. Vielleicht werden sie in diesem Jahr überleben, vielleicht nicht,
Aber wir sind an einem Punkt, wo, komischerweise, der Tod in unserer Show für unsere Hauptrollen jetzt grundsätzlich unangenehem geworden ist. [lacht], Selbst wenn sie nicht überleben, werden sie sicher für eine Staffel sechs zurück kommen. Ich weiß bloß nicht, wie man diese Geschichte ohne Sam und Dean erzählen soll."

Jared and Jensen have strengthened their friendship on and off screen since the show began. Is that ideal in a season like this, when the bros are in a weird place emotionally and we know a little more about their connection with Lucifer and the angels?

E.K.:

"We’re really lucky to have the two of them. As actors, they have such a comfort and respect and almost a shorthand with each other at this point, so they can just jump right in and really try some things that are a little edgy or different in terms of conflict and anger. They feel comfortable going to that place because they work together so well, and they know the other person can carry a heavy load."

There is a lot of meta humor involved, such as when the Winchesters go to a Supernatural fan convention or the knowing look Sam gives when House of Wax is mentioned. How do you balance that with the serious story at hand, and has it gotten easier over the years?

E.K.:

"I would say that we’re probably pulling back on it from now on. My own personal feeling is we’re riding the hairy edge of just starting to go to that well too often and push it too far. Most of the time, we do it reasonably well. It’s a way to poke a little fun at ourselves and wink to the audience that we, as the writers of the show, don’t take ourselves too, too seriously. There’s nothing worse than self-important horror. At the end of the day, you’re in the business of scaring people and saying “Boo!” and ripping their hearts out and spraying blood on the screen, so to say that somehow I’m telling some epic religious story is a little pompous and disingenuous. We like to puncture that balloon, poke fun at the show and have a really healthy sense of humor about the characters and about ourselves."

Is the fallen angel Anna Milton (Julie McNiven) coming back in the second half of the season?

E.K.:

"She’s coming back in a way that I think will be pretty surprising to the fans. She’s very different than the angel we met when we last saw her. She’s in an episode in which Sam, Dean, Castiel [Misha Collins] and Anna all travel back in time to interact with John and Mary, Sam and Dean’s parents, when they were young. We did that once successfully in season four, and we’re going back because there’s more of their story to tell. When they find them this time, they’re newlyweds and living in an apartment, and John’s trying to wrestle with keeping his job. It’s just interesting seeing little snapshots of what their family was like before the boys were born."

What other surprises do fans have in store?

E.K.:

"We really pride ourselves on still being a series where people can just join the party. There are certainly the mythology episodes, but Sam and Dean go to an insane asylum [in next week’s episode], and there’s an episode with some body-switching going on in the second episode back. We’re doing a Valentine’s Day episode, and it’s probably the only Valentine’s Day episode of any show this year that begins with two people having sex, who then proceed to eat each other in a very violent and gory way. [Laughs] We’re doing zombies, and we’re actually sending the boys to heaven, which is a world on our show we’ve never seen before."

If there’s a sixth season, how do you top the apocalypse?
E.K.:

"Well, the trick is to not go big but go intimate – at least those are the initial conversations we’ve had [if the show is picked up for a sixth season]. We always set up this five-year storyline, because in my heart of hearts, I just never imagine we’d actually go five years, much less beyond. We are going to climax the storyline and really wrap up the story of Satan and Michael and the apocalypse. The big question is, how do you follow that? We look at this as a unique challenge but also an opportunity to really launch a new storyline next year. We’re almost looking at it as the sequel to a movie. Rather than as a lot of genre shows do as they get on in years, becoming so convoluted and almost collapsing under their own mythology and getting to the point where you just can’t follow any of it anymore, we’re really looking forward to the opportunity of just sweeping it all clean and starting over with something else. We talk about returning to a stripped-down version of the show that’s almost similar to season one, in which the mythology was just as simple as finding their father and finding something that’s really personal and meaningful to Sam and Dean. One of the things that’s hard about the end of the world is sometimes it’s hard to have your characters emotionally connect with it, because it’s so big. But if their emotional storyline for, say, season six is to save a loved one, then that’s something you can really understand and get behind and actually have some really emotional storytelling that takes you through a lot of the scary episodes."

So you think about what you’ll do in the next season — how about who you’ll do it with? We don’t know yet if Sam and Dean will survive the end of the world. Are they in your plans?

E.K.:

"Oh, absolutely. The one thing I can say is there’s no Supernatural without Sam and Dean. If they’re not driving the bus, then I’m not sure there’s a bus to drive. Maybe they’ll survive this year and maybe they won’t, but we’re at the point where, hilariously, death on our show for our main characters has now basically become an inconvenience. [Laughs] Even if they don’t survive, they’ll certainly be back for a season six. I just don’t know how to tell this story without Sam and Dean."

Wie ihr sehen könnt - ich habe ein neues Layout! Ich bin sehr stolz darauf und ich hoffe es gefällt euch genauso gut wie mir!
Durch den Layoutwechsel sind mit einige Features abhanden gekommen. Ich werde mir allerdings alle Mühe geben alles wieder in den Urzustand zu bringen. =)

Ich habe lange nicht mehr gebloggt!
Aber nun haben wir noch eine Woche bis zu den neuen Supernatural Folgen. Wir haben die Pause also bald überstanden. Ich denke wir sind alle froh darüber!
Jetzt kann es dann auch wieder mit aktuellen Posts weitergehen...
Darum will ich nicht lange drum herum reden, sondern fange direkt mal an.

SUPERNATURAL | WINTER MIT DEM WINCHESTERS

Es wird eine lange einsame Feiertagsjahreszeit für Supernatural Fans werden. Die emotionalste Episode mit spannendem Ende. Zwei geliebte Charaktere starben, dann Tod (einer der 4 apokalyptischen Reiten) wurde exhumiert. Sam (Jared Padalecki) und Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester werden während einer zweimonatige Pause vermisst werden.
So baten wir Sera Gamble (ausführende Produzentin) darum, einige kommende Highlights mit uns zu teilen.

Wir brauchen einen gewissen Anreiz, um im Laufe eines kalten dunklen Dezembers ohne Supernatural aus zu kommen. Worauf können wir uns freuen?

S.G.: Es geht damit weiter das wir uns mit der Apokalypse weiterhin befassen. Die persönlichen Kosten für unsere Jungen sind echt; sie werden auf jede mögliche Weise leiden. Diese Staffel ist wirklich lustig aber auch sehr düster gewesen. Der Supernatural Gaumen wurde wegen der Apokalypse sehr gereizt. Wir sind im Stande, Geschichten auf einer etwas größeren Skala zu erzählen.

Könntest du uns einige Sneak peaks von diesen Geschichten geben?
SG: Wir haben mehrerer geschlossene / beendete Episoden. Zum einen ["Sam, Interrupted,", am 21. Januar] lüftend, wird sich ein Jäger mit unseren Jungs in Verbindung setzte , der ein Fall bearbeitet hatte, der so traumatisch war, dass er verrückt würde.
Er lebt freiwillig in einer Irrenanstalt und etwas geht dort nicht mit rechten Dingen zu, daher ruft er die Jungs an. So melden sich Sam und Dean selbst dort an. Die Herausforderung einer Episode wie das ist, dass es viel begangenes Territorium in Horror Movies und TV Shows ist, so stellten wir sicher, dass wir etwas ‚anderes’ hatten. Die Jungs müssen nicht verrückt sein, ein Jäger zu sein, aber es hilft dabei. Das ist es was Sam und Dean erfahren. Auch wird es eine Zombie-Geschichte geben. Die sich aber von den Croatoan Virus-Zombies unterschieden. Diese sind mit viel Persönlichkeit eher postmodern.

Haben sie Verlangen nach Fleisch?
SG: ich kann nicht zu viel sagen. [lacht] Sie sind nicht notwendigerweise schlechte Zombies. Zumindest nicht direkt. Sie sind Zombies, die Sie denken lassen.

Werden wir schließlich Gott sehen?
SG: Nicht irgendwann bald, aber die Leute suchen bestimmt nach ihm. Es ist eine andauernde Suche für Castiel [Misha Collins]. Das ist für ihn lebenswichtig und für die Jungen immer interessanter. Historisch hat Sam mehr Glauben. Für Dean gilt das nicht, ungeachtet dessen ob Gott existiert oder nicht. Wir könnten die einzige Show auf theCW sein, die aktiv nach Gott sucht.

Ist Gott schon gecastet worden? Misha Collins sagte, dass es cool wäre, wenn es Miley Cyrus ist.
SG: [lacht] Darüber kann ich nichts erzählen.

Was werden Luzifers nächste Schritte sein?
SG: Ihr werdet mehr von Luzifer sehen. Ich mag wirklich den Schauspieler [Mark Pellegrino]. Ihr werdet mehr über dies „Sam in Besitz nehmen“ in seinen Plänen lernen. Und wie er Nick fand, der sein derzeitiger Wirt ist. Und ihr werdet bestimmt anfangen, die Perspektive des Erzengels Michael zu verstehen. Er versucht, aufgenommen zu werden, und Dean ist der einzig der als mögliche menschliche Hülle für ihn brauchbar ist. Er geht nicht im hier und jetzt spazieren, so müssen wir bei der Vorstellung von Michael kreativ sein. Ihr werdet es sehen.

Wird es irgendwelche Specials in diesem Jahr geben, wie Weihnachten und Halloween?
SG: Wir werden eine sehr dunkle und unheilvolle Valentinstags - Episode haben. Es geht um die Erfahrung was die Natur von Liebe und Verlangen angeht, was wirklich sehr zerstörend sein kann.

Irgendetwas anderes das Sie teilen können?
SG: Wir werden auch eine Körpertausch-Episode haben, Sam mit einem Menschen - das ist alles, was ich dazu sagen kann. Fans haben danach schon seit fünf Staffeln geschrien. Das letzte das ich noch erzählen kann, besteht darin, dass wir weiter die Geheimnisse der Winchester Familie und Sams und Deans Vergangenheit erforschen werden. Es gibt dort noch mehr zu offenbaren.

Irgendwelche Winchester Familienmitglieder, die auftauchen?
SG: Ja, tatsächlich!. Ihr könnt Rückblenden hier und dort erwarten.

Können wir auf eine Rückkehr von Jeffrey Dean Morgan hoffen?
SG: Ich sage euch, das wir Lüftsprünge machen am dem Tag an dem wir hören, dass er verfügbar ist, um wieder John Winchester zu spielen.

It’s going to be a long lonely holiday season for Supernatural fans. Following last night’s emotional cliffhanger—two beloved characters died, then Death (one of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse) was exhumed—Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester will be missing from TV screens for a two-month hiatus. So we asked executive producer Sera Gamble to share some upcoming plot points.
We need some teasers to get us through a cold dark December without Supernatural. What can we look forward to?
Sera Gamble : We are continuing to deal with the overarching storyline of the Apocalypse. The personal cost for our boys is real; they will suffer in every possible way. This season has been really funny but also very dark. The Supernatural palate has escalated due to the Apocalypse. We’re able to tell stories on a slightly larger scale.
Can you give us some peeks at those stories?
SG : We have several closed-ended episodes. In the first [“Sam, Interrupted,” airing January 14], the boys are contacted by a hunter who had worked a case that was so traumatic that he went crazy. He’s been voluntarily living in an insane asylum and something not right is happening there, and he calls the boys. So Sam and Dean check themselves in. The challenge of an episode like this is that it’s well-trodden territory in horror movies and television shows, so we made sure we had a different take. You don’t have to be crazy to be a hunter, but it helps. That’s what Sam and Dean explore. We’re also doing our twist on a zombie story. It’s different from the Croatoan virus zombies. These are post-modern with lots of personality.
Don’t they chomp on flesh?
SG : I can’t say too much. [Laughs] They’re not necessarily bad zombies. At least not right off the bat. They’re zombies that make you think.
Will we finally see God?
SG : Not any time soon, but people are definitely looking for him. It’s an ongoing quest for Castiel [Misha Collins]. It’s vitally important for him and increasingly interesting for the boys. Historically Sam has more faith. The jury is out for Dean as to whether or not God currently exists. We might be the only show on the CW actively searching for God.
Has God been cast yet? Misha Collins told me it would be cool if it were Miley Cyrus.
SG : [Laughs] I can’t tell you anything about God.
What’s Lucifer’s next move?
SG : You’ll be seeing more of Lucifer. I really dig the actor [Mark Pellegrino]. You’ll learn more about how his taking Sam over figures into his plans. And how he came to find Nick, who’s his current [host]. And you will definitely start to understand the Archangel Michael’s perspective. He’s trying to become embodied and Dean is the only possible vessel for him. He’s not walking around in the here and now, so we have to be creative in introducing Michael. You will meet him.
Are there any holiday deconstructions this year, like you’ve done with the pagan roots of Christmas and Halloween?
SG : We will be doing a very dark and sinister Valentine’s Day episode. It’s an exploration of the nature of love and desire, which can be very destructive.
Anything else you can share?
SG : We’re also doing a body swap episode, Sam with a human—that’s all I will say. Fans have been clamoring for it for five seasons. The last thing I can tell you is that we will be further exploring the secrets of the Winchester family and Sam and Dean’s past. There’s more to reveal there.
Any Winchester family members showing up?
SG : Yeah, actually. You might get a flashback here and there.
Still hoping for a return from Jeffrey Dean Morgan?
SG : Let me tell you, we’ll do back flips the day we hear he’s available to play John Winchester again.

Gute Nachrichten für alle Fans der US Hit-Serie.
Voraussichtlich wird Pro 7 ab Anfang Februar 2010 die 3. Staffel ausstrahlen. Ein genauer Termin steht offensichtlich noch nicht fest, aber sobald ich was neues weiß, werde ich euch auf jeden Fall darüber informieren.

Auch wenn es noch eine Woche hin ist, so habe ich schon die Preview für die Supernatural Folge "Abandon all hope" vom nächsten Donnerstag gefunden.
Leider wird dies auch die letzte Folge in diesem Jahr sein. Denn es kommt eine Pause bis Januar. Bis dahin werden die jenigen unter euch die die aktuelle Staffel schauen wohl oder übel auf neue Folgen warten müssen.
Ich hab das dumpfe Gefühl diese Folge wird richtig spannend und ich fürchte sie wird uns alle im Ungewissen lassen...

Eine der Aktivitäten ist ein „live action role playing game“ aber die dinge ändern sich schnell als ein echter Geist auftaucht.

Hier ist mein brandneuer Supernatural Blog.
Ich hatte das Gefühl die Serie ein bisschen supporten zu wollen und was wäre da besser geeignet als ein Blog um gleich mit dem Support anzufangen.
Ich habe eine ganze Menge Ideen und es wird News, Umfragen, Downloads und andere Dinge geben, die ihr nicht verpassen solltet!!
Auch wird es diesen Blog zweisprachig geben. Ganz einfach weil ich weiß das es Leute gibt die nicht so gut Englisch können. Darum wird es von jedem Post eine deutsche und eine englische Version geben.

Here is my brandnew Supernatural related blog.
I had the feeling to support the series a bit and what could be better as a blog to start supporting!!

I got a lot of ideas and i will have news polls, downloads, and stuff that you should not miss to explore!!!

Also this blog will be in german and in english, cuz there are still people who dont speak english so well... so there will be a german and an english version of every post...
